Prenna ish1 cover evolution

Thought I'd put together a little look into the evolution of one of my pieces. Colors on the finished piece by the ever-talanted

The bluelines were just a small piece in my sketchbook that I scanned in, converted to bluelines in Photoshop by converting to CMYK, filling each of the channels but Cyan 100% white, and then filling Cyan at 75%, which is actually about 10% to 15% less than I usually fill it, and wish I hadn't because I still had some bleed over of the blue when I scanned it in, so I should've made it lighter.

Anyway, I then enlarged the bluelines and ran them out full-sized, worked my pencils over top of them, changing a little here and there (like the character of Moshate, whose pose in the sketch seemed too stiff and robotic), added a little bit, and then moved on to inks. The inks I kind of whacked out a little faster than I would have liked, but they didn't come out too badly. I had already been sick for a week (I almost never get sick, but when I do, I REALLY get sick), and MegaCon was less than a week away so I needed to get the inks done and to Grace to color.

Colorwise, Prenna is a different vibe than most of my stuff, which is usually darker. I think the colors work well, with Hexx (and someone today on Drunk Duck) commenting that it's got this very Dr. Seuss vibe.

I think it's the pink trees.

Anyway, that's that, and I'm going to go back to being sick for the third week.

At least I'm not running 103.5 anymore.
